AFRICA WILDLIFE PHOTO SAFARI JULY 2014

We were all enamoured with the Cape buffalo. While studying the herd, a group of three warthogs
wandered into the masses. Shortly thereafter, they were swarmed with oxpeckers, or 'tick birds'.
These birds are notorious for staying with the buffalo, keeping the animals free of the vile ticks.
As we observed the warthogs, they seemed to enter a trance as the birds went to work removing ticks.
One by one, after the cleaning, the warthogs sauntered off. It was evident that they entered the herd
specifically for a de-bugging. Who needs Black Flag? Fascinating.
